Membership Plans

Each Dojo is unique and each Sensei wants to run their Dojo their way.

Mokuso provides a lot of flexibility when setting up plans, allowing Senseis to set up membership plans the way they want to work.

Styles of Plans Supported

In general membership plans break down into a few styles:

Flexible

A flexible plan is where a member purchases a plan and receives a balance of classes which can be booked. The member can book classes they’re eligible for, typically only limited by grading, until they run out of balance.

Mokuso supports granting the member a specific or unlimited number of classes for the duration of the plan recurring period.

Fixed

A fixed plan is when the plan is restricted by day of the week. Members can only book classes on specific days of the week. After taking out a fixed plan members will receive a balance of classes which can be used to book classes on their allowed days. They’re still limited to booking only classes valid for their grading.

Mokuso supports granting the member a specific or unlimited number of classes for the duration of the plan recurring period.

Pay As You Go

A pay as you go plan lets members purchase individual classes as they book onto them.

Recurring Payments

Most membership plans will be recurring, which Senseis can set up for monthly or weekly. When a member has signed up for these plans, Mokuso will automatically schedule recurring payments.

You can set up a combination of Monthly and weekly plans depending on plan options you want to give your members.

We recommend that Senseis primarily use monthly recurring plans, since this will reduce the overall overhead of processing payment transactions.

Family Plans

By default all membership plans are designed to support one student practising. When taking out a membership, Mokuso will ask the member if they’re managing a plan on-behalf of a child, in this situation, the parent will be allowed to set up a sub-profile for their child, which will receive the balances of classes from the plan.

A plan can be set up as a family plan, this is done by setting the number of family members which are allowed on the plan. When a plan is set up as a family plan, the balance of classes is given to each allowed family member.

Eg: if a plan provides 5 classes per month and supports 2 family members. 5 classes will be granted to 3 students.

Additional Classes

Members who are on a plan with a limited number of classes and use up their allocation before the end of the period can purchase additional classes.

This gives members the flexibility to attend additional classes as they wish. While also allowing Senseis to charge different rates for additional classes compared to pay as you go plans.

Add-ons

Mix and match family membership plans. While a standard family plan gives every family member the same plan, Add-ons let you build something more custom. One member holds the primary plan and additional family members are added on, each on their own individual add-on.

Add-ons let you deal with situations where you want more customisation than the simpler family plan approach. Covering situations like having different family members practicing on different days of the week under fixed plans.

Add-ons also support discounts for additional members, allowing Sensei’s to model situations like providing the 2nd and 3rd child a 10% discount.

Add-ons provide a lot more flexibility, but come with the downside of being more complex to set up.
